Castelnaudary (41km)

Oh Castelnaudary , the world capital of the cassoulet !

Come stroll in our city to discover our typicals dishes , from the cassoulet with its family recipe to the famous pastries « Alléluia », dry cake whose recipe is jealously keept by the Belloc house, one of the cake and sweet shop of the city.

Visit the unedited sites as the Apothecary which contain an extraordinary collection of earthenware pharmacy pots and where you will be able to inquire about the therapeutic value of natural elements , or about the Telegraph of Chappe, used at the time to convey encoded optic messages.

Make the most of your passing through our city to admire for some hours the marina of Castelnaudary, created to pay respect to the Canal du midi, the exeptional work of Pierre-Paul Riquet.

 

 

 

 

Carcassonne  (66km)

Registered at the world heritage of the UNESCO since 1997, Carcassonne is world known for its medieval city. Second tourist site most visited of France, this overall medieval site is unique in Europe for its size and its conservation state.

Take advantage of your lenient time for a ride along the Canal du Midi where you will be a part of the Pièmont Pyrenéen path (GR 78) which begin at the old bridge of Carcassonne.

You will be able to discover the historic anf cultural heritage of the city : the fortified town of Saint Louis, the commercial and residential centre, the Saint-Nazaire basilica in a romanic style or the art museum which contains western paintings, earthenware collection or art objects as a long view which was used by Napoleon. 

Toulouse (71km)

Toulouse, « the pink city » !

The famous city red abounds in marvels. Go to discover its numerous mansions as the Assézat hotel or the Bernuy hotel and its capitular tower, built thanks to the flourishing trade of pastel. Or go to the famour religious monuments as the Saint Sernin basilica, the biggest romanic church of France and one of the most beautiful or as the Jacobin convent which contains the relic of Saint-Thomas d’Aquin.

You can also decide to go for a day at the Cité de l'Espace, a European park of space adventure which will please  the little ones as the grown-ups !

Nevertheless don’t forget the inescapable Capitole where you will find the city hall with the room of the Illustrious and the square of the same name, emblematic place of Toulouse with its Occitan cross.
